Pissouri Village is set high on the edge of an ancient escarpment, looking out over the distant Mediterranean horizon towards Africa. Pissouri beach is a scenic 2.4 km scenic drive downhill from the Village. In days only recently gone by, the Bay was a beautiful, isolated golden beach, an undisturbed agricultural area. It was busy only when the valuable local carob harvest was shipped out from stone warehouses, still standing today. Today, it is renowned for its golden sand, multi-coloured small pebbles, gentle waves and crystal clear blue sea.
Protected by Cape Aspro’s spectacular white cliffs to the west, and Mavrotsos, dramatic dark cliffs to the east, mimosa-lined Pissouri Beach is unique, beautiful, calm and peaceful, a sunlit Mediterranean gem.

At 1500 metres long, the beach is magnificent, a spectacular recreational location for visitors. Sports fans can swim, water-ski, windsurf, sail, scuba-dive, snorkel and paraglide from the safe, sheltered bay. While local business provide sunbeds and umbrellas, sun-worshippers can bring their own umbrellas and stay all day at no cost. Wifi access is available.

Pissouri is proud of its free beach facilities. Four changing rooms, toilets and shower points are provided for all visitors. In the tourist season the beautifully maintained beach is fully covered by trained lifeguards. There is plenty of free public parking, and five public access points. Two of them are constructed for disabled access next to Captain's bay restaurant (in front of Yialos Tavern) The ultimate in beach luxury accommodation is provided by two superb award-winning 5-star hotels, the Columbia Beach Hotel and Columbia Resort. There is also a wide range of other accommodation – apartments and villas for rent, and tourist complexes. There is an excellent range of bars and restaurants, from the cheap and cheerful to the elegant international, including Lebanese, Pizza, and of course, traditional Cyprus Fish and Taverna fare. There is an excellent range of shops to meet your needs – supermarkets, gift shops, hair and beauty salons, scuba diving centre, bar.

Pissouri beach is a turtle nesting beach, protected by a team of dedicated turtlewatchers under the leadership of Jimmy Carroll. It can now be hoped that, even with the proposed Marina, it will be possible to protect the nests on Pissouri beach. Do a search for turtles on this website to see the complete information, so you can plan your holiday to be here around the likely hatching times. The main article is in the "Nature" section.
