Event: 'GO' Print
  Pissouri - other
Date: Monday, October 11, 2010 - 10:00
Duration: 1 Hour

GO is one of the three oldest games in the world, the others being chess and the game whose name I do not remember played with camel turds in hollows in the desert.

Its rules are marvellously simple. Two players take it in turns to place a stone on the intersections of lines on a board. If you can surround an enemy stone, it is captured.    If you can surround some space with your stones, you score them.    And that is about it.

Can you see how the players are developing in the three successive examples on this page. The learning process is really enjoyable, and you get to enjoy it more as you learn more. And you can go on learning more for a lifetime, for it must be admitted, the tactics and strategy are something you can get better and better and better at.

You can start playing from day one, even here in Pissouri. Our Group meets on the second Monday of every month, at 10am, here at the Athos Café on the Old Pafos Road. You’d be welcome to give it a GO.
