WATER STEALING
Although we have written about this some time ago, newcomers may be unaware (and longer term residents may well have forgotten) that water theft is a perennial problem in Cyprus, and certainly here in Pissouri.
We met a couple this week, part time residents, who to their horror had received a €1,000 + water bill instead of their usual relatively tiny bill. We told them immediately it was almost certain that their water was being stolen as there was no evidence of over-use or leaks. This was confirmed by the Village Office when they visited the premises and found a water pipe leading to it from waste ground.
Our advice now, as previously, was to get a lock fitted to their meter. Check on the “Directory” and then “Home Improvements” where you can find a plumber which will fit one for you. Don’t think it can’t happen to you... it can!
If you see anybody stealing water report it to the police immediately!!!
