DOG LICENCES

about-pissouri_copyDog Licences

A dog owner must have a licence from the Village Office.  The cost of your dog licence is €20.50.  This will not be issued unless you have a vet’s certificate of vaccination and microchipping (the Vet does this).  Your dog (and cats) should also be wormed at least 3 times a year.

Inoculating dogs is something that needs to be taken seriously, not only to protect your dogs from the standard diseases, but because echinococcosis (hydatids) is endemic in this part of the world.  The Government makes every effort to control this disease which affects livestock, dogs and humans.  Failure to have your dogs dosed could result in a fine.

A great kindness (and sensible precaution) is to neuter/spay dogs.

Dogs are not allowed on beaches.

To All the Dog Owners/keepers:

Dear dog owner:

It has been observed that many dog owners haven’t got their annual licences from the Council’s office yet. At the same time, many dogs are walking off a leash and away from their owner’s properties, causing a lot of dirt and damaging people’s properties as well. As a result, many complaints are written down daily, coming up from a great number of residents or other people visiting our village.

Taking into consideration the above complaints, you are requested to comply with the following directives:

• You should get your annual licence from the council which it shall be renewed every year.

• The dogs should be walked on a leash and under control when they are off their owner’s properties.

• If any dirt caused by the dog, you are obliged to pick it up and clean the specific area.

According to the above, the Council will be strict and if the dog owner fails to comply with the specific directives he/she will be fined immediately.

URGENT NOTICE

Dear Resident,

Subject: Unlicensed Dogs

After a random inspection I have conducted today in a number of houses in our Community I found out that some dog owners haven’t obtained their dog licences from our offices.

Certainly, this kind of attitude is considered to be unjust and unfair for the rest of our residents who are law abiding and simultaneously this “tax evading” approach is weakening our cash inflows as well.

In view of the above, we would like to inform all the dog owners that the Council Clerks will shortly perform a door- to door- inspection in order to spot those residents who don’t comply with the law.

In order to avoid any misunderstandings and hardships, residents who haven’t obtained their dog licences are requested to produce in my office (due date the 20th of January 2010) the following documents:

  1. Certificate or Dog Health Booklet issued by a certified vet.

  1. Enrolment and permanent certification signal (microchip) issued by the vet services Head.

We are looking forward your mutual cooperation.
