BAY FIRE SATURDAY 15 OCTOBER

Circling back above the village to pick up more water

BAY FIRE

A dramatic fire down at the Bay today cut off the road between the Bay and the Village.   The speed with which the flames were being driven up the hill by the wind was frightening.   Fortunately it seems it was a relatively quiet day for the fire service and they deployed rapidly - 15 firefighters, 3 helicopters and 10 fire vehicles, and fortunately the fire was rapidly brought under control.

It is worrying that, once again, several witnesses saw people in the vicinity immediately before the fire.   It seems this fire may have been started accidentally but very carelessly.
