DOCTORS, SPECIALISTS & PRACTITIONERS

(Private)

The following are Specialists, doctors and other practitioners who have been recommended.   While about-pissouri.com takes no responsibility for your dealings with any of the  recommendations, please keep them coming.   It is only by sharing our information that we all get the maximum benefit from an information-sharing website like this one.

We always need feedback too, please, to ensure that the information is up to date and reliable.

For State helath care you need to register with a State doctor (see separate tab), and the Old Hospital will provide you with a prescription book.
If you do not have a European Health Card we strongly recommend that you should have private health insurance.

If you go private, your State doctor is not allowed to work in tandem with your private doctor.   However, you can go direct to any specialist with or without a referral, and be in general be seen straight away.   The doctors in Cyprus are, generally, excellent.    This website has a list of recommended doctors and specialists, and are grateful for any additions you would like to suggest.

VASCULAR SURGEON

Dr Papas
Limassol.

Dr Papas is purely a vascular surgeon and his surgery is just off the old 3rd roundabout at Limassol in the shadow of the sports stadium.  For operations he uses the Achillion Hospital (very nice) also close to the 3rd roundabout.  Those without insurance can expect to pay in the region of 2,300 eruos for an op.  Laser treatment for thread veins etc, if my memory serves me correctly, is around 70 euros per session, but a telephone call will clarify his full range of services and costs.

George Stellianou
Physiomed
Ph. 26 910067,  99 489663.

The physiotherapist is George Stellianou.   The company is Physiomed and their number is 26 910067.  He is also contactable on his mobile 99 489663 when the practice is closed.

Until very recently, Physiomed were based in St George's Hospital in Paphos but now have premises just off the Polis Road.  George is currently producing a brochure which I will give to you in due course.  Roger has been delighted with him as have other friends.

After treatment with George, there is an exercise class twice a week (again at their premises, off the Polis Road) which George oversees and the trainer designs exercises to suit the person's particular needs.  Roger says it is like having a personal trainer and it only costs 50 euros a month.  There is a gym with all the usual equipment and weights etc.   Patients (for want of a better word) can use the gym equipment (if the trainer feels that is right for them) under supervision during the exercise classes and often George pops in to see how things are going.
The exercise classes are for people with problems such as a weakness in their back, can't lift their arms up high.  He also has exercise machines for people recovering from accidents.  It is geared to that sort of thing and not people wanting to use a gym in the general sense.  I think they would have to see George first for an assessment.
